Is Detroit a frontier city?

The definition of a frontier city isn’t much different than the
definition of the word “frontier” itself – something yet undiscovered
and undeveloped, just beyond the edge of a settled region. Of course
don’t take that literally when thinking of Detroit as the frontier. But
if you think of that in terms of searching for a new economy and
molding it into something new, well, Detroit is most definitely on the
frontier.
