Detroit-area filmmakers are represented at both the Ann Arbor and East Lansing festivals.

Among them:

In Ann Arbor, Mike Degg premieres “The Consumers,” an animated film he
made at College for Creative Studies. It screens as part of a 9:30 p.m.
block of films on Friday.

“First Amendment on Trial: The Case of the Detroit Six,” a half-hour
documentary about the FBI crackdown on Communist party activity in
Detroit in 1952, shows in East Lansing. The movie was coproduced by
Huntington Woods resident Ron Aronson, an instructor at Wayne State
University, along with director Judith Montell from Berkeley, Calif.
