Hamtown fest takes to the streets Labor Day weekend

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Jos. Campau, north of Caniff

Sept. 1-3, Noon-10 p.m. each day

Let us count the ways we love the venerable Hamtramck Festival, which has been rocking the north end of Jos. Campau since 1980.

We’ve danced on the street to Mitch Ryder, found big and chear plates of Polish and (yes) Indian food, and ordered beers from the hard-partying Hamtramck Firefighters booth.

Bottom line it’s plenty awesome and easy on the pocket book.

So who’s appearing on two stages this year? The Sights, Melvin Davis and the United Sound, the Polish Muslims, Dennis Coffey, the Kielbasa Kings, the Misty Blues and lots more. Sounds pretty great.

Also, the Polish Day Parade (on Monday), the popular canoe races and the kielbasa eating contest will keep you entertained though the weekend.
