Melvin Davis and Gardens recording before live audience at PJ’s Lager House
Feb. 24, 9 p.m.
Few working artists on Detroit’s soul music scene have a more impressive resume than Melvin Davis, a singer, songwriter, drummer, and bandleader who worked with everyone from Smokey Robinson and David Ruffin to Wayne Kramer and Dennis Coffey. His European fans and his patrons at the Spanish Vampisoul label don’t call him “the ambassador of soul” for no good reason. He can rock. And he no doubt will rock hard for this performance, which is being recorded before a live audience. That could be you in the front row.
With support from Gardens, Outrageous Cherry and Cannonball Underground.
At PJ’s Lager House, 1254 Michigan Ave., in Detroit’s Corktown. It’s $10.
