The Model D Speaker Series revisited the topic of sustainable urbanism, at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, at the
Detroit Yacht Club on Belle Isle.
Detroit architect
Mark Nickita of Archive DS
will return with real Detroit examples of sustainability. Part one of
this topic, explored in March, proved extremely popular, so we're
bringing it back.
Other speakers will be:
• Chris Bray of the Detroit Catholic Pastoral Alliance, whose
Gratiot Woods developments offer examples of the principles of sustainable urbanism in action.
• And
Diane VanBuren Jones of WARM Training,
who spearheaded getting the
American Institute of Architects' sustainability audit for Detroit.
The series is sponsored by the
Michigan State Housing Development Authority and the Detroit Yacht Club.

And save the date: A special speaker series and reception will be held Friday, June 20, at the
Max M. Fisher Music Center in Midtown, as part of the DSO's 8 Days in June festival and Model D's 3-year Birthday.
