The Detroit River is making a comeback. It's so clean
you can swim in it. It's so clean beaver and other animals are returning. Model D's June 2 Speaker Series will look at the successful efforts to restore the river's health, as well as opportunities to explore and use the river for recreation.
The event is free, but seating is limited, so you must register in advance. The Speaker Series will be at 5:30 p.m. June 2 at the
Atwater Block Brewery, 237 Joseph Campau in Detroit.
Speakers will include:
* Mary Bohling, extension educator with
Michigan Sea Grant. Bohling works with coastal communities and businesses in southeast Michigan to apply science-based knowledge to address Great Lakes issues.
* Anita M. Twardesky of
Riverside Kayak Connection, the Wyandotte kayak outfitter that is leading a series of kayaking tours with Model D.

The event will start at 5:30 p.m. for sign in and networking. The hour-long presentations start at 6 p.m.
