Failure is something everyone deals with at some point in their lives. How someone responds says a lot about their character.
That's why Model D, with support from
TechTown Detroit, has been publishing
personal accounts of failure—in politics, in business, in fundraising—to dispel the stigma surrounding it. These stories demonstrate that it's not only acceptable to fail, but that it's essential. Failure often results in life-changing lessons, important self-realizations, and the beginning of even more exciting projects.
Continuing our engagement with this topic, Model D and the
New Economy Initiative will be hosting a High Growth Happy Hour speaker event at TechTown on July 27. The panel, which will be moderated by TechTown president and CEO Ned Staebler, will include:
- Niles Heron, principal and founder of Simple Machines Consulting
- Hassan Bazzi, director of Regional Opportunities for ACCESS
- Henry Balanon, chief product officer for Autobooks
- Lee Shows Padgett, founder of Busted
There will also be a presentation by Amanda Brewington, former owner of Always Brewing Detroit, now a loan officer at ProsperUS Detroit and standup comedian.
Food and drinks will be provided. The event is free and open to the public.
We hope to see you there!
The High Growth Happy Hour on failure will be held at TechTown Detroit on Thursday, July 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. RSVP for the event here.
