Seventh- and eight-grade students from Detroit's Friends School teamed up with Model D photographer Dave Krieger to document the revitalization of downtown. A closer look at the students' adventure is in this
feature story. They found glimmering new buildings and classic American skyscrapers that still remain as some of the most impressive the world has known. The students converted the project into a fundraising effort for the school, which is on the outskirts of Lafayette Park.
With Krieger's help, the pictures were edited, printed and later auctioned off. Here are six of the best
photos by the students involved in the assignment.
The students are: Joshua Brooks, Eleanor Carey, Kirsten Lee, Jordan Harvey-Morgan, Jacob Higle-Ralbovsky and Ellen Lezotte. The class was under the supervision of teacher Damien Yambo.
