"The best way to learn about the innovation economy isn't in a stuffy ballroom."
We couldn't agree more. Which is why we're excited that
OpenCo, the citywide open house that first debuted in
San Francisco, is coming to
Detroit this Thursday, Sept. 12 -- joining the likes of
New York City and
London.
Why Detroit? According to founders Brian Monahan and John Battelle, this year's host cities are "famed for their forward-thinking outlook" and are home to some of the world's most exciting companies. Better yet, these companies embrace a set of values we share: open collaboration, open communication, open community.
We can get behind that. So much so, in fact, that we called our friends at
Detroit Bus Company to charter a special bus for the occasion, hosted by
Urban Innovation Exchange. The bus will loop around greater downtown, stopping at some of the newest incubators and co-working spaces that have emerged as springboards for new ideas in the city.
So here's the deal: this Thursday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. we'll be doing a loop of incubators and co-working spaces in greater downtown that have emerged as springboards for new ideas in the city. If you've been wanting a behind-the-scenes look at places where innovators are gathering to create and collaborate, here is your chance.
Our itinerary includes:
The bad news: registration for the UIX OpenCo Bus is now full. If you registered in advance, look out for an email with instructions to hop on board with us!
The Good News: There's still time to register for
the full OpenCo experience and choose from an impressive lineup of dozens of innovative companies and organizations around the city. To sign up to attend,

See you Thursday!
