The Works

July 14, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

The guy known as Distal spent a few years at Georgia State University researching a sensational auditory phenomenon called Synesthesia. One day while digging through some breakcore records he stumbled upon a sound that would inspire him to launch his career as a bass music producer and get noticed by some bangers in the UK.

In early 2010, Distal started his own label, Embassy Recordings. In the summer of 2010, his inaugural physical vinyl release came on London’s Soul Jazz Records label. Of late, he’s been seen hanging around with the crew from Bristol, England’s Tectonic imprint.

Check Distal out at his Detroit debut this Saturday, July 14 at the Works, 1846 Michigan Ave., Detroit’s Corktown.

Also performing: resident DJs Deka, Deadlines, Calico, Tailor Hawkins vs Ruckus, Sporeprint, CPhear, Greg Mudge, Adjust, and 534N. Doors at 10 p.m. Dancing until 5 a.m.
