Detroit insiders rush to Slow’s Bar BQ opening in Corktown

Slow’s Bar BQ, located on 2138 Michigan Avenue, opened its doors last Friday and served over 400 guests that weekend alone.

“What’s interesting is that we never advertised the date for the opening night,” said Ryan Cooley, one of the partners, “we got our liquor license on Thursday and some other permits on Friday, and then we just said let’s do it this weekend.”  Then, the word got out, and people just showed-up.  They were pleasantly surprised when almost 200 people came on Friday alone.

“We were prepared for it,” said Brian Perrone, chef and partner, “we kept everything moving smoothly.  We had a full staff that kept everything under control, and even the traffic outside was free-flowing with the help of the valet parking service.”

“There is a real need in Detroit for fine dining at affordable prices,” said Phillip Cooley, also a partner, “and Slow’s fills that need.  Detroiters want to be able to relax and have a great time without breaking the bank and we offer that here.”

Slow’s Bar BQ is open every day from 11am to 2am.
