Recycled Treasures opens on June 16 in Hamtramck

Recycled Treasures, a non-profit store that sells gently-used home goods and furniture, will open its doors on Jos. Campau at Botsford on June 16. Executive Director Catrina Stackpoole used to run a similar shop at Friendship House that has since closed, so she knows such an operation is “a much needed service for the community.”

Stackpoole notes that many new immigrants arrive to Hamtramck and have to start from scratch. “These folks can get some basic things. It’s a way for them, for $2, to get some dishes, some pots and pans, something they normally wouldn’t be able to get for that little bit of money.”

Other aspects of Recycled Treasures include fix-it classes, women’s quilting circles and arts and crafts.

Stackpoole does accept donations, citing a need for anything one “would need after a fire.”
