After a one month delay, the Motor City Casino Hotel will open to guests on Nov. 28.
Spokeswoman Jacci Woods likens the preparations to getting ready for Christmas. "Our guests will finally get to experience that level of service and product we've been promising since the day we broke ground."
In the lead-up to the opening, a colorful exterior light display has been activated. There are 16.7 million color options available, so the lighting can be changed to recognize a season, holiday or even a sports team. The valet building, or gateway, is also complete.
The Iridescence night club will relocate to the top of the hotel building before the Auto Show comes to town; Amnesia, an ultra lounge, will open soon after. The current Iridescence space will be renovated into a 24-hour bistro. The final dining component to fall into place will be a new take on buffet. "Eighty percent of the food will be prepared right there in front of guests," says Woods. "This is all coming online next year."
The common thread throughout Motor City is its location in Detroit. "Our tagline is, 'Built to the beat of Detroit,' " says Woods. "Rather than trying to reinvent ourself or adapt to another area or mindset, we have 100 percent totally embraced Detroit."
