Now is the season for comforting snacks and desserts. Which means it's the perfect time to open for
Mongers' Provisions, a chocolate and cheese shop that will celebrate its grand opening on Cass Avenue in Midtown on Saturday, Dec. 8.
This will be the second location for Monger's Provisions, which already has a shop in Ferndale. The stores are owned by Zach Berg and William Werner, two Metro Detroiters with extensive backgrounds in the food industry.
Berg is a graduate of
TechTown Detroit's Retail Boot Camp where he won $5,000 in a pitch competition. And Werner is a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Detroit program.
"It was always a part of our plan to open and operate a Mongers' Provisions in Detroit, and here we are today, just in time for the holidays," said Werner, in a press release. "We welcome everyone into our shop to sample our great cheese and chocolate offerings that we've carefully curated, and then walk away with products or a board to enjoy at home or to bring to any size gathering taking place now through the end of the year."
At the grand opening, patrons will be able to sample a variety of chocolate and cheese products, as well as purchase goods from other local vendors. Monger's Provisions will also carry charcuterie, fresh and frozen meats from Farm Field Table, and other accompaniments.
The new 1,028-square-foot space is bigger than its Ferndale location, and the owners plan to offer a wider variety of products. There will also be tastings and classes.
Monger's Provision in Detroit is located at 4240 Cass Ave., Suite 111.
