Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints builds two churches

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or the Mormon Church, is building two new churches. One, in North Corktown (pictured), will likely be completed in November, while the second, located on Connor near Mack, should be complete in December.

Both churches will hold congregations of 100 to 150 and were selected from a half-dozen standard Mormon church plans. Facilities manager Gregg Miller says that the construction reflects the church's commitment to growing its presence in Detroit.

Miller says the facilities will also be fully-landscaped. "They will be a pleasing place for people to come and enjoy their worship services," he says.
