Detroit
Threads, Hamtramck's vintage clothing and record store, has moved and
expanded to a much larger location a few blocks north of the old storefront at 10238 Jos. Campau.
The store features a large
selection of vintage men's and women's clothing, hats, used and new
records and an extensive collection of Detroit-themed t-shirt designs.
Owner
Mikel Smith said the new store, with 3,300-square-feet, is more than
twice as big as the previous spot. Smith says that he has also
increased the amount of local Detroit music for sale.
Smith
has owned and operated Detroit Threads for over eight years. He says
that Jos. Campau's foot traffic is ideal, and that people come to
Hamtramck to buy, not just window shop.
Detroit Threads is
open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and noon to 9 p.m.
Wednesday through Saturday. The store will be hosting a fashion show on
July 8, featuring Smith's t-shirt designs and clothing by Orange Sperm
fashion designs. Call 313-872-1777 for more information.
