National multi-family apartment company
Village Green celebrated the renovation of its Trolley Plaza (Washington Square) property into Detroit City Apartments this week. The significant renovations and renaming are designed to appeal to professionals working in the Central Business District, led by Quicken Loans' announcement that it moved 2,000 more workers into its downtown headquarters this week. Village Green CEO Jonathan Holtzman says large-scale residential investments will help draw more professionals to sign leases in the CBD.
"In order to inspire retail to relocate, you have to have people living downtown," he says. "Village Green believes quality rental housing will encourage retail businesses to relocate and will contribute to their economic success."
The 351-unit building, which offers residents amenities like a Sky Park and Sky Club, concierge, outdoor swimming pool, tennis court and fitness center, was built in 1981. Renovations now offer prospective tenants 10 different floor plans ranging from 650 to over 1000 sq. ft., designed by Ron and Roman, LLC and Damon Farber Associates.
Formerly known as Joseph Holtzman Homes and Holtzman and Silverman, the corporation (based in Farmington Hills) built single-family homes throughout Detroit; plus large-scale projects like the Fyfe Building and Riverfront Apartments.
"Village Green has deep roots in Detroit," Holtzman says. "Our newest development Detroit City Apartments is celebrating the best of Detroit -- past, present and future."
