The first weekend of the Somerset Collection's pop-up retail venture, CityLoft, did brisk business in its newly designed space at 1441 Woodward in the Lofts of Merchants Row building.
Over 40 stores are featured in the CityLoft project, which represents a $500,000 investment by Somerset and its sponsors: Quicken Loans, Cadillac and Bank of America. The retail installations themselves run the gamut from affordable brands like GAP and LEGO to high-end designers like Betsey Johnson, Tappers Diamonds and Henri Bendel.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit ID 1441, a new charity created by the Somerset Collection to distribute funds to charities within Detroit's borders.
CityLoft will be open one weekend per month through September.
