After being closed for six months, the Detroit Historical Museum reopened in November 2012 after a massive $12 million renovation. About 70% of the renovations were built from scratch or so significantly altered that they can be considered new. Among the new exhibits are the Kid Rock Music Lab and an experiential exhibit exploring the Underground Railroad.
