For the last three years, F & M Construction has been building homes on Marlborough St., between Mack and Charlevoix, known as the Marlborough Estates in the Fox Creek area.
This area has several vacant lots of land that are city owned. F & M has stepped in and purchased a block lots from the city and built new homes, with plans to building many more in the future. “Where there was disparity, there is now opportunity,” says Frank Ferro, member of F & M construction.
So far, about 30 homes have been built on Marlborough, with a 90 percent occupancy rate. The homes are fully bricked with attached garages and full basements, sodded with sprinkler systems and set on urban sized lots that fit into the neighborhood. “We want to keep that vintage look,” says Ferro of the brick exteriors.
The two-story homes range from 2,000 to 3,600 square feet with prices between $230,000 and $375,000.
F & M plans to acquire the adjacent blocks to continue with the second phase of the project, which is anticipated to add an additional 25 homes to the area. “This is a 15 to 20 year project,” says Ferro, “we are working closely with the master plan for the area.”
