Motor City Casino opens nightclub, Amnesia, atop hotel

A new high-end nightclub has opened atop the Motor City Casino Hotel, Amnesia -- and the casino hopes it proves unforgettable. "We're going to do it like nobody does it in downtown," says spokesperson Jennifer Kulczycki.

There is capacity for 380 in the club, which has a dance-floor level and V.I.P. mezzanine. The bottle service is available on the mezzanine; it includes premium liquors as well as access to Iridescence's extensive wine list. That relationship with the fine dining restaurant means that Amnesia's tapas menu is a cut above most late-night snack menus.

Guests can make use of the casino's complimentary valet service. They then take the hotel elevators up to the 16th floor, where staff will direct them to the hallway designed for queuing with music and LED lighting.

The club itself has a rich color scheme of blue, red, silver and gold. There are state of the art sound and light systems. There are six signature martinis with names that play with Amnesia's name, such as Blackout and Forget Me Not.

In terms of music, Kulczycki describes the vibe as "eclectic but progressive." She says, "We anticipate that our guests will be sophisticated but old school."

Initially, Amnesia will be open Friday and Saturday nights from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., but more nights will be added.
