The recent Dally in the Alley is one of Detroit’s longest running festivals, featuring local music, art, fashion, food and fun. The festival celebrated its 30th anniversary last weekend.

The Dally is held each year on the Saturday after Labor Day, in a neighborhood just south of Wayne State University. Thousands of people of all ages attend the event, which began in an alley between Forest and Hancock in 1977. The daylong party has now spilled onto nearby Forest and Second avenues.

In this episode of Model D TV, Producer-Director Tom Hendrickson talks to organizers about why the event has been a hit for 30 years.
