Bootsey X CD/DVD box set release party in Corktown

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Corktown Tavern

Aug. 18, 8 p.m.

Some of us have been rocking in Detroit long enough to remember Bob Mulrooney playing drums in Detroit bands the Ramrods, Coldcock, Rocket 455 and Dark Carnival. But it wasn’t until Mulrooney fronted the Lovemasters and began calling himself Bootsey X that his local legendary status really began to take off.

This Saturday, Aug. 18, starting at 8 p.m., see Bootsey X perform (along with the Meltdowns, the Boners, the Space Heaters and Timmy’s Organism) at a CD and DVD box set release party. The box has a cool title, Black Brain Red Heart, and can be purchased at the door.

At the Corktown Tavern, 1716 Michigan Ave., Detroit.
