March 1-3, various

The annual Hamtramck-based music festival known simply as The Blowout is ready to rock our pants off for four nights, at over a dozen venues, with more than 200 bands and musical artists. It’s a fun and funky local institution that began in Hamtown in the late-1990s and has showcased literally thousands of bands over 15 years.

The weekend kicks off with a pre-party at the Magic Stick on Wednesday, Feb. 29.

We recommend you get your tickets here and just hit the town running Thursday through Saturday to soak up the casual, boozy atmosphere at bars like Skipper’s, New Dodge, Jean’s, Small’s and the massive Polish National Alliance Hall, the biggest venue in the biggest neighborhood rock festival in the country. Check out the schedule here.
