Commune Angels, which launched last month focused on increasing access to national deals and increase diversity in angel investing, is holding the virtual event “Angel Investing 101,” set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 29. Facilitated by guest speaker and veteran investor Tony Wilkins of Standing Oaks Venture Partners, participants will learn about the fundamentals of angel investing.

Model D to launch new community building reporting and engagement series

Model D will be embarking on a year of regular reporting that will explore the efforts of neighborhood-based organizations, leaders, and residents who are focused on moving their communities forward during a time of unprecedented challenge. The coverage will be similar in spirit to Model D’s On The Ground projects in Live 6, North End, and Jefferson Chalmers — but broadened to incorporate more neighborhoods and perspectives.

Detroit organizations release coloring book to keep kids engaged during stay-home order

Some of the iconic scenes — unique illustrations created by 313 Creative, a consulting firm based in Eastern Market — to be depicted in the coloring book include the Belle Isle Aquarium, the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory and James Scott Memorial Fountain on Belle Isle; Mt. Elliott Park, Gabriel Richard Park, Cullen Plaza, Robert C. Valade Park and the Dequindre Cut along the riverfront; Shed 3 at Eastern Market; Campus Martius Park; and Rouge Park, Palmer Park, and Clark Park in Detroit.
