Gigante Prince Valley Supermercado, located on Michigan Avenue just east of Livernois in Southwest Detroit, has recently completed $150,000 of façade improvements.

A new vestibule entrance was constructed, the front of the building was covered and painted and new windows, doors and exterior lighting were installed.

The most notable aspect of the work is a custom-made stainless steel sign that was designed by Eric and Israel Nordin of the neighboring Detroit Design Center.

“Basically, I gave them our logo and said, ‘do something cool,’” says store-owner Joe Gappy.

The work began in June and is complete other than for the planned addition of a couple of more light fixtures. “We’re very happy with the way the façade looks,” Gappy says.
