National chain Salad Creations has opened its first Michigan location at 1043 Woodward, in the ground floor of the 1001 Woodward parking garage. Since opening on May 21, owner Luciano Gonzalez says, “It’s been very good, very busy. I live downtown, we believe in the city and wanted to bring something new to the city.”

Salad Creations offers over 40 salad toppings — including jumbo shrimp and Alaskan salmon. Its menu offers select feature salads and wraps, or customers can create their own salad for $6.99, with an additional $2.50 to add a meat or protein.

Gonzalez says that 70 Salad Creations franchises have been sold across the country, and 19 of them have opened. Gonzalez plans to open a second location in Troy, and another franchisee has one planned for Romeo Plank. Another Detroit location is not currently set, but Gonzalez says, “We could see it in the future for sure.”

Salad Creations will soon begin offering catering and delivery out of the 1,500-square foot space. Hours are Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. until 7 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
