ARISE Detroit! showed great numbers for the 2nd annual Neighborhoods Day

The 2nd Annual ARISE Detroit! brought out hundreds, if not thousands,
to more than 100 community building events last weekend, organizers
said. It was a weekend of education and neighborhood spirit.

The 2nd Annual ARISE Detroit! brought out hundreds, if not thousands, to more than 100 community building events last weekend, organizers said. It was a weekend of education and neighborhood spirit.

“We connected with ARISE Detroit! because we wanted to make sure the message got out that the only way to improve a community is for people to come out and help,” said Sandra Cobb, a Habitat volunteer coordinator.

The events were held partly to educate, partly to foster community spirit.

The Neighborhoods Day included parades, concerts and information sessions on school and literacy programs. The United Negro College Fund sponsored some of the events.
