Rickman Enterprise Group moves downtown, plans to hire 35

Rickman Enterprise Group is moving on up to downtown and looking hire up to 35 people within the next year.

The environmental clean-up firm is in the process of taking over the 6th floor of the Beal Building (where Blumz is located) at the corner of Broadway and Gratiot. It's making the move into the 5,000 square feet of space from southwest Detroit to help facilitate an aggressive growth plan to more than double its workforce of 29 people.

"We're very excited to be coming into this dynamic building," says Roderick Rickman, chairman and CEO of Rickman Enterprise Group. "It's a very nice facility."

Which makes sense because Rickman Enterprises specializes in helping create nice places. The firm cleans up brownfield sites, doing things like PCB, asbestos or lead abatement. It has done this type of work at the Clark Park Technology Park and the wastewater treatment plants for GM and the city.

Rickman Enterprise Group has big plans for expansion hopes to take on large amounts of work sooner rather than later. To help make this possible it's looking to hire engineers, equipment operators and administration people. Many of them will work out of the company's spiffy new downtown digs.

"I wanted to be in downtown Detroit and continue my commitment to help revitalize Detroit into the world class city it is," Rickman says.
