Intellectual property looks to play a major part of
Michigan's
transformation from a brawn-based economy to a brain-based one. So much so that
TechTown will hold a seminar on June 6 on the subject and how it can help
create and strengthen businesses.
"I truly believe that one of the engines that are
necessary to develop our economy is the creation, or importation, of intellectual
property" says Christophe Sevrain, who will speak at the half-day seminar.
"In fact,
Michigan
is one of the states with the most IP per inhabitant, and these assets could
also be deployed for new applications, or to create new companies.
Sevrain would know. The admitted serial entrepreneur has
been building and selling businesses for more than 20 years. He holds 25
patents and is CEO of CJPS
Enterprises, a Bloomfield Hills consulting firm that specializes in helping
businesses reach the next level.
The mini-seminar will also feature interactive discussions
about building up, or divesting of, intellectual property so companies both
large and small can increase competitiveness. The session covers basic concepts
of intellectual property protection, growth strategies, as well as rationale
and methods to identify and negotiate licensing agreements. Its part of a
series of seminars that CJPS Enterprises was assigned by the Michigan Economic
Development Corporation to offer to Michigan
companies interested in learning about best business processes as part of the
Life Sciences Pipeline initiative.
It costs $195 to attend the seminar. For information, click here.
