
University Cultural Center Association (UCCA) was awarded funds for several of its projects including their Woodward Willis Development, linkages to and construction of the Midtown Loop Greenway, streetscape improvements, the Detroit Festival of the Arts and the creation of a public art plan.
Specifically, the awards include:
- $50,000 from the Community Foundation of Southeastern Michigan (CFSEM) towards construction of the Woodward Willis Development, a mixed-use building that was also designated as a State of Michigan Cool Cities project in 2005.
- Conditional funding from MDOT in the amount of $1.1 million towards the construction of the Midotwn Loop Greenway, which is slated to begin in 2007.
- $50,000 from CFSEM to study potential linkages between the Midtown Loop and the Dequindre Cut, which would connect Midtown to Eastern Market and the Detroit River.
- $2.1 million from MDOT towards streetscape improvements to Woodward Avenue between I-94 and Ferry, and Warren and Selden.
- $14,200 from Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) for operating support for 2007's Festival of the Arts.
- $66,448 from MCACA for the development of a public art plan.
