The eastside's Harbor House has opened a downtown Detroit location on Clinton St. in the former Cock 'n' Bull.
Harbor House on Groesbeck has been in business for nearly 35 years, but proprietor John Mighion thought the time was right to branch out. "A good percentage of our business in Clinton Township is from Detroit," he says. "We believe Detroit needs a high quality restaurant in a comfortable atmosphere with a suburban price point."
Harbor House's menu is seafood leaning, although burgers, ribs and chicken are also available. Its infamous all-you-can-eat menu is available, though not featured as prominently as it is at the other location.
Interior focal points include the 50-foot mahogany bar, Tiffany-style lamps, high ceilings and brick walls. There is a separate non-smoking dining area available.
With the restaurant open for just a month with no exterior signage yet, Mighion is pleased with how busy it has been. "Sales have been increasing 20 percent a week," he says. "The response has been excellent."
Harbor House is located at 440 Clinton St. Call 313-967-9900. Food is served Mon. through Fri. 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sat. and Sun. 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The bar remains open until 2 a.m. on Fri. and Sat.
